The workshop will be recorded and available for all who register. A list of all resources and references will also be shared.
Watching the moon
at midnight,
solitary, mid–sky,
I knew myself completely,
No part left out.
—Izumi Shikibu
Come welcome this Solstice by exploring your light and shadow and understanding what it means to truly shine.
Making a collage doesn't require special talents or tools — paper, glue, and a few images provide all the materials to manifest a piece of art. Collaging is accessible and also absorbing — done with contemplative awareness, making a collage is a meditative process for exploring and expressing your deepest intentions. Done in community, collaging is a beautiful collective ritual for creative practice.
Cosmic Collage! sessions are auspicious opportunities to combine your intuition and creativity with the synchronicity of powerful astrology.
The solstice (combining the Latin words sol for “Sun” and sistere for “To Stand Still”) is the point where the Sun appears to reach either its highest or lowest point in the sky for the year and thus ancient astronomers came to know the day as one where the Sun appeared to stand still.
This invites us to explore light and shadow...
You’ve probably done some shadow work yourself (even if you didn’t know it), but here’s a super basic summary: If the persona is the masks we wear to present to the outside world — how we want the world to see us. And the ego is our intimate sense of self — who we are to ourselves. Then our shadows are the parts of ourselves that we’ve dis–owned — what we don’t see and, tbh, mostly don’t want to see, what we reject or deny. The shadow contains things about us that are largely if not ENTIRELY unconscious.
When we’re young, the shadow holds the things that our parents, families, communities, and cultures deem UN–acceptable. It’s NOT that the shadow is bad – we’re not trying to get rid of it. We want to know our shadow. What’s problematic is our unconscious rejection of this material. We want to integrate these things about ourselves, not destroy them.
NO PART LEFT OUT.
Also, it’s not only so-called negative traits that end up in the shadow – often there’s a baseline of what’s accepted in a culture and anything less than OR greater than this ends up in the shadow. We get different messages depending on our gender, race, class, etc. Especially for certain people and groups, it’s actually even harder to see & own the gold that’s buried in the shadow.
This is lifelong work.
In this creative workshop, we will tiptoe into the shadow and use reflection and journaling to explore what has and has not been hidden, and, most importantly for the solstice, identify those parts that we want to help shine. 🌞🌟🔆☀️
On June 21st at 5:58pm ET, the Northern Hemisphere will celebrate the summer solstice, the day with the most daylight in the calendar year (happy winter solstice to the Southern Hemisphere!)
This seasonal shift is the perfect time for intentional rituals and magic — a potent time to practice together. It is a time of creative possibilities. It provides us an opportunity to initiate our own cosmic reset through contemplation and creativity.
In celebration of this celestial event, on June 18th, we will spend 2hrs 30min in meditation, reflection, imagining, and collaging. No collage experience is necessary. Simply bring a journal, scissors, glue, magazines/newspapers or images/words for your collage (or use a digital collaging app).
I will offer gentle guidance and tips for collage making - but everyone is invited to experiment and play however they wish. A
nd you will not be forced to share your collage!
Come celebrate the Solstice in sacred & cosmic creativity!
P.S. You can learn more about my own sacred & cosmic collage practice here.
